Privacy policy

horita is a macOS menu bar app that shows your next meeting. It's built by Liran Baba, an individual developer. The short version: your calendar is read on your Mac and it stays there.

What horita reads

With your permission, horita reads events from the calendars you've added to macOS (through Apple's EventKit framework): titles, times, locations, notes, organizers, attendees and meeting links. It uses them only to show your next meeting, list today's events and find the link to join a call.

This data is processed on your Mac. horita doesn't send it to the developer or to anyone else, and doesn't keep a copy beyond a short-lived in-memory cache. Your settings, including which calendars are selected, are saved in the app's preferences on your Mac. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Calendars.

What horita doesn't do

• No account or sign-up.
• No analytics, telemetry, advertising or crash reporting.
• No selling or sharing of personal data, because it doesn't collect any.

Network connections

• Update checks. horita uses the Sparkle framework to check for new versions. It downloads an update feed and, when you choose to update, the new version from GitHub. Like any web request, this exposes your IP address and the app version to GitHub, under theGitHub Privacy Statement. No system profile is sent.
• Joining a meeting. When you click Join, horita hands the meeting link to Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams (or your browser). From there, that service's own privacy policy applies.

Google Calendar connection (in development)

A direct Google Calendar connection is being built for calendars your Mac can't see. It isn't available yet. When it ships, it will work like this:

• You'll sign in with Google and grant read-only access to your calendars. horita won't ask for anything else.
• Your calendar data will travel only between your Mac and Google's servers. It won't pass through any server run by the developer.
• Sign-in tokens will be stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. You can disconnect at any time in horita's settings or from your Google Account permissions.
• Google data will be used only to show your meetings in horita. It won't be used for advertising, sold, or used to train AI models.

horita's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

horita.app has no analytics, cookies or third-party scripts. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic request data (like IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.

Children

horita isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the changelog.
