A countdown, only when it matters
The timer shows up when a meeting is getting close. You decide how close. Until then it’s just a small icon.

Click the icon for the rest of your day in a plain dropdown. Hover a meeting to see where it is, who organized it and who’s coming.
Your day, summed up
One line tells you how many meetings are left, how much of the day is busy and when you’re free. Overlaps and back-to-backs are marked.
One click into Zoom, Meet or Teams
Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams links are picked up automatically, even when they’re buried in the notes.
A keyboard shortcut for the next call
Right-click the menu bar item, or record a global keyboard shortcut and join without reaching for the mouse.
A full-screen reminder, if you want one
A banner notification with a Join button, or a full-screen reminder you can’t miss. Off by default, with the lead time and sound up to you.

Sharing your screen? Hide meeting titles, so your 3pm stays between you and your calendar.
Any calendar your Mac has
iCloud, Google, Exchange, whatever shows up in the Calendar app. You choose which ones horita pays attention to.
What it looks like
Your calendar never leaves your Mac.
horita reads the calendars your Mac already has, right there on your Mac. For calendars your Mac can’t see, a direct Google Calendar connection is coming. It will ask for read-only access, and your events will go from Google straight to your Mac without passing through any server the developer runs. Read the privacy policy.

Which calendars does it work with?
Any calendar you’ve added to your Mac: iCloud, Google, Exchange, and anything else that shows up in the Calendar app. You pick which ones horita watches.
Is it free?
Yes. horita is free and open source under the MIT license. The code is on GitHub.
Which macOS version do I need?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer.
Why does it ask for calendar access?
That’s how it sees your meetings. macOS asks once, and the data is read on your Mac. horita never sends it anywhere.
What about Google Calendar accounts my Mac doesn’t know about?
A direct Google Calendar connection is in development, for calendars you never added to System Settings, like a work Google account. It will talk to your own Google account and nothing else.
How do I join a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams meeting from the menu bar?
Click Join next to the meeting in the dropdown, right-click the menu bar icon to join the next one, or set a global keyboard shortcut. horita finds the link in the event, even when it is buried in the notes.
Does it work with Outlook or Exchange calendars?
Yes, when the account is added to your Mac in System Settings, Internet Accounts. horita reads whatever the Calendar app shows, including Exchange and Outlook.com accounts.
What about Webex or other meeting links?
horita detects Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams links. Other services are not detected yet; the meeting still shows in the dropdown with its details.
Is horita signed and notarized?
Yes. Releases are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized, so macOS opens them without workarounds. You can also install it with Homebrew: brew install --cask cordwainersmith/tap/horita.

How do I uninstall it?
Choose Quit horita at the bottom of the dropdown, then drag Horita from the Applications folder to the Trash. If you installed it with Homebrew, run brew uninstall --cask horita instead. Optionally, remove its preferences with defaults delete dev.liranbaba.Horita.
About horita
“horita” is Spanish for “in a little while”. It is made by Liran Baba, an independent developer, and the source is on GitHub under the MIT license. Releases are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
